[RoF] - Merit: Morning Reflections

The immortal day of summer waning, the pale sky shimmered orange to blue to purple to pink, the sun not quite setting before it rose again. The two females had slept precious little beside the icey lake over the "night" before they'd set about their work, their paws working to break through the solid layers where it was vulnerable and exposing the frigid water beneath. Both slim and not so heavily furred, the chill swept over them instantaneously. Arda shivered to herself as she fumbled for the first catch, snapping at the small indenture as the slippery silver thing exposed itself, its body tightly fighting her jaws. With less grace than force, she firmly smacked it on the ice, causing it to go limp, as Rapier herself dove a paw into the water. Mist rose above the water as the cool that had accumulated over the scant hours of darkness permeated the lake, the trees and even the dark-hued peaks that shadowed them.
